Gina is a Senior Occupational Therapist with over 13 years’ clinical practice experience in paediatrics. She graduated from University College Cork with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy in 2011. She has specialised in the area of paediatrics since graduating, working across a wide range of services in the UK & Ireland. As an Advanced Sensory Integration Practitioner, she completed a Masters of Science in Sensory Integration through Ulster University in 2016.
Gina is a registered Occupational Therapist professional with CORU for Health and Social Care professions in Ireland. She is also a member of the Association of Occupational Therapists of Ireland. Gina is involved with the Sensory Integration Education UK and Ireland organisation where she holds roles as Editor of the SensorNet Publication and Mentor for therapists completing postgraduate education in Sensory Integration.
She continues to work clinically as a senior Occupational Therapist on a Children's Disability Network Team in Cork, Ireland and therefore meets families and children through her work on a daily basis. This has continued to inform her studies in this area and drive the need to contribute to the field of research.
Gina is currently completing a PhD in Occupational Therapy in University College Cork. Her supervisors are Dr. Helen Lynch and Professor Jeanne Jackson.
Her research interests are particularly focused on autistic children and sensory processing. She is interested in exploring meaningful participation and family life for autistic children.
